PARTING OUT 88 EAGLE JULY 2010.
Please note some of this stuff in below photos long gone. The above photos were taken July 2010, but I continue to pull items and toss them on ebay and craigslist Houston!
This is wife's 88 Eagle for sale. It is #100 of only 2306 last year AMC vehicles made.
The good! It is last year AMC ever made a car. It is a daily driver, wife Paige has driven it last 7 years. Has new $350 carburetor; $200 of rather new tires; $500+ front end work; new $50 starter; been switched over to R134A air conditioning several years ago (but since leaked out, blows cool, not cold like did for 3 years after; was $650 to change it out); in last year had $500 worth of brake work like master cylinder, disc pads and a new rotor, has new tune up. Factory aluminum valve cover, new shocks in front. Good license sticker/plates. Has almost all trim, flairs including end caps, flawless dash, great door panels, beautiful front clip (interchanges with 79-83 Spirit, 79-83 Concord, and 80-88 Eagle, can retrofit to 70-77 Hornet and 70-78 Gremlin), great bumpers, grille, All this stuff works: high/low lights, turn signals, horn, wipers, emergency flashers, has power steering, power brakes, tilt column, dual remote mirrors, 3 of 4 original hubcaps with centercaps (one was wasted when guy sideswiped Paige April 2009).
The Bad! Won't pass emissions of which sticker expires end of April 2010. Radio don't work, has cracked windshield, was sideswiped on Bellaire when guy hit Paige as she was turning into Valero station, so dents down right side; paint is fading, has rust in floor board, 4X4 will not engage/work, rough idle, and cold natured bitch to start (have to pump gas several times, then let car warm up to operating temp before driving), loud starter, seat on driver side low.
I bought car from original owner, of which is was sold here in Houston, Texas, at Archer AMC on Hiway 59. This would be a great parts car for someone restoring a 79-80 AMX or GT, or ranch/farm car perhaps, I could not see anyone driving it daily due to high mileage (168K) but my 82 Eagle wagon has 210K and I drive THAT daily. Maybe someone could use the many new parts like carb, tires, and other things we have put new on it in last year and up to last 5 years. I could not see anyone restoring this particular vehicle, but stranger things AMC-wise have happened.
Right now I have about 14 AMCs, including 4 Eagles. I just sold my Hurricane Ike 73 AMX, and a 74 Javelin, and am parting out a 74 AMX, and fixing to start restoring a 69 big bad orange Javelin, and attempting to finish off my 71 SC/360 Hornet.
$700 for the 88 Eagle. I can keep it here at house for up to 6 months storage at no charge if you need. You can find a variety of transport companies on my VENDORS list if you need to have it shipped to you also. This car runs, drives and stops just fine. It is just ugly and needs odds and ends and wife lost interest in it after sideswipe. So if you think you can do something with it, $700 gets you whole running, driving, stopping last year 1988 American Motors 4x4 Eagle.
