If you see a deal too good to be true' on ebay, click this link and
REPORT
IT TO EBAY QUICKLY HERE!!!!!
CLICK ON "PROBLEMS WITH OTHER MEMBERS" THEN
"FRAUD CONCERNS FOR BUYERS" AND "REPORT A LISTING AS
FRAUD" THEN
CLICK ON "EMAIL" WITH THE ITEM NUMBERS!!!!
WARNING A MAJORITY, IF NOT ALL, OF THESE SCAMS WANT
YOU TO EMAIL THEM
DIRECTLY IN THE AUCTION! REPORT THEM QUICKLY TO THEIR
SERVERS LIKE
server is, letting them know it is a ebay scam and their server will terminate
their account quickly!
It is more fun running up the bids however on the scammers auctions into the
millions as it pisses them
off, and ebay won't hold it against you knowing you are simply trying to warn
others of a scam!
Below is one article a fellow wrote about this scam, which has been really bad
on ebay since the beginning
of the year. Below that is a series of emails I wrote to the amxfiles and
badassgremlin group to warn others
of the scam, some of which the listers decided to jump in the "bidding
war" taking out the scammers!
All of the auctions were TKO'ed by Ebay. Again, your best bet is quickly use
the link above to REPORT
IT TO EBAY DIRECTLY; and also send the scammers server a SCAMMER ALERT by to
the
abuse@whoever their server is.com
======================================================
From my own observations on these scams this is
how to spot them:
The car was recently on ebay. It may or may not
have sold.
The "seller" wants you to either get
permission to bid FIRST, or email them directly off ebay.
You click on VIEW SELLERS OTHER ITEMS, and all
other items have same description to email them directly or you can't bid.
Vague description on the vehicle. However several
scammers have not only stolen the photos of the vehicles off other websites
like Trader Online or Duffy's Collectible Cars, but also STOLEN THE TEXT so it
would appear they know the car really well.
Generic reply if you ASK SELLER A QUESTION.
Check out the asshole down below I led on about the hemi Charger for instance.
Damned Croatian can't even spell hemi.
They want your information like name, address and
"are willing to quickly accept your offer".
You see others bidding up the amounts drastically
(uh, like me! in millions of dollars in a effort to thwart the scammers and
alert others.
You get a email from fellow ebayer letting you
know it is a scam. Note that you can email directly the high bidders in some
auction, limit ten emails to high bidders to warn them that it is a scam!
The "seller" specializes in boots,
makeup, handbags, but suddenly when you click on VIEW SELLERS OTHER ITEMS they
have all this rare high dollar iron on THREE DAY AUCTIONS.
Zero feedbacks on the seller means they quickly
opened the account and dropped those auctions.
The "seller" informs you that "you
can pay thru ebay so everything is on the record" which it is not at all
and has nothing to do with ebay nor paypal, or credit card. WARNING!!!!!
DO NOT USE PAYPAL, WESTERN UNION OR ANY
ELECTRONIC TRANSFERS OF FUNDS, OR YOU WILL BE FUCKED!
This is my
own take and how to handle them:
The below emails is what I posted on several
online AMC places recently
as a number of American Motors vehicles exploded onto ebay in scam
auctions....
On this one I "bid" it up to $99 million and had help from fellow
AMC fans!
Wow these scam auctions are really getting out of hand, here is yet another
six auctions tossed up quickly by a scammer at this email address:

For those of ya'll looking for the million dollar Javelin, it got taken out
again. Below is some good advise, although sort of late, but good advise I
guess to watch your ass on some of those fruad auctions that pop up on
fee-bay. Note that if someone used Paypal, you "may be" eligible for
a $1000
cover. However, again as mentioned before the scam works like this:
The scammers steal someone's ID, and some photos of whatever. In this case
(and February 17th) it was a blue 69 Javelin. They put up a auction quickly
(and on the 17th had over a dozen fruad auctions everything from Mustang to
Healey) but all they are doing is phishing for emails from suckers who think
they are getting a deal of a lifetime. And once you bid, they have your
email to contact you directly. Usually informing you that "they will take
your offer and you can paypal (or insert credit card here) them the funds to
hold the car" for you. Needless to say that is how 4 people got ripped
off
for the tune of $4500 each a few weeks ago. And the scammers will be long
gone with your money and you have no recourse, 'maybe' $1K coverage on
paypal, but that is only if you took out the insurance to begin with duh.
Best thing to do until ebay gets a handle on this crap is for everyone to be
vigiliant, and if you see something too good to be true AMC-wise, quickly
let other AMCers know.
Or better yet, click on "live chat" on the front page of ebay and
give them
the auction number so they can check quickly. I think it is more fun bidding
millions of dollars on it however, and emailing those bidders directly
letting them in on the scam so they too can bid millions :~))
Since I was uh, the high bidder on this Javelin (thanks roxie for alerting
me!) and then again live chatted ebay with info, this is the TKO notice I
got from ebay with things to do in case I had sent any electronic transfer
of funds to the scammers. Won't be the last time we see these scams either!
=================================================================
EXTREMELY IMPORTANT YOU READ THIS ONE!!!
Someone asked how I know these are scam auctions. One is that people are
calling and emailing me when they see something too good to be true. That
black AMX was sold a few months ago on ebay. The blue AMX earlier tonight
was sold only three days ago and jixxa-mixer was the high bidder and won the
car at $13K. The dumbass scammers I guess figured no one, much less AMCers
would notice.
Ironically those scam auctions were all shut down earlier tonight....and as
the scammer used someone else's ID, hijacked it (more on this later) and
quickly shoved those samed damned auctions back up. So since I asked, and
got, a increase in my bidding limit from ebay :~P I decided to smack these
auctions also, but not for $99 million, but under a million each. Only in
strip clubs do I normally throw that type of money around you know.
Here is the black AMX I earlier paid $99 million for, this time was bargain.

Always have liked these too, and used to hang with a fellow in Corpus
Christi who had one and it was painted Red. Only one I have ever seen
painted, not sure how they got the paint to stick, but sure could get the
girls with this baby. And those girls had all their teeth.
Back to how you can spot these. Usually they have a ridiculous 'buy it now'
price, but usually not in the auction, but in description. Look at the Cord,
$9000 BIN price. give me a break, $9000 is in the paint alone that is
probably a $100K car. Check out the AMX since ya'll are AMCers. (providing
these auctions have not been shut down yet) but that AMX has quite a mill,
but a BIN price of $5400 which would cover the paint job, or a good engine
build and if you look at that engine the 'real' sellers had some bucks in
it.
The big kicker is the sellers wanting potential bidders to email them first.
Once you email them they have your email address and drop the bomb like
"ok,
I'll take your high offer on it, you can paypal me (or VISA, Amex, Discover,
MC ect) the funds, I will hold the car but send title" or other line of
crap. You also see this in rare parts auctions.
And it is not anything new, I can recall a Hemmings Motor News warning about
a seller in their pages who was contacting people looking for rare Mopar
parts in the 1990s. Very knowledgeable, knew descriptions, part numbers.
They also ripped people off for over $100K out of Reno, NV. And I don't
think they were ever caught either.
No, I ain't ebay police! Yes, I enjoy running up scammers auctions in
between changing daipers, cooking and watching those fools on Celebrity
Dancing or whatever Paige was watching in there.
So since I started this email, this is one of six TKO's that just came in:
The following is a notice from eBay Trust & Safety regarding:
Item Number - 4617392712
Item Title - DeLorean
Our records show that you placed a bid on this item. We removed this item
from the Site and cancelled your bid because it appears that the seller's
account has been compromised and used by an unauthorized third party. The
seller's privileges to trade on eBay may be temporarily suspended while we
investigate this matter further. Due to privacy concerns we will not be able
to share further details related to this seller.
If the seller asks you to complete this transaction outside of eBay, we
strongly recommend that you do not proceed with the transaction and do not
respond to the seller. Transactions for items listed on eBay but then
completed off of the eBay platform are not covered by buyer protection
programs offered by eBay and can be highly indicative of fraud. For more
information on Offers to Buy or Sell Outside of eBay, copy and past the
following Help Page link into your browser:
http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/rfe-spam-non-ebay-sale.html.
If you have already paid for this item but have not received it, you should
take all possible steps to receive reimbursement.
1. Stop payment with your bank if you paid by check.
2. Contact the Security Department of your credit card company to file a
chargeback if you paid via credit card.
3. If you paid via Western Union or MoneyGram, contact the company directly
(Western Union 800-325-6000 or MoneyGram 800-926-9400).
4. If you paid with PayPal, you may be eligible for up to $1,000 USD
coverage at no cost. To file a claim with PayPal, login to your PayPal
account and copy and paste the following link into your web browser:
/csg/p?
www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=p/gen/protections-buyer-outside.
Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the File a Claim link.
PayPal claims must be filed within 45 days of the close of the listing. It
may take at least 30 days to complete the investigation and resolve the
dispute.
5. If you did not pay with PayPal and would like to file a claim with eBay,
please initiate the Item Not Received Process online directly from the
Security and Resolution Center at the bottom of the eBay.com page.
6. eBay claims must be filed within 60 days of the end of the listing.
Our goal is to ensure that your eBay experience is safe so that you can buy
confidently. It is rare that something goes wrong with a transaction on
eBay. However, in the event it does, we would like to provide as much
assistance as possible to help resolve the issue.
Regardless, it don't matter. On the six auctions the scammer listed, there
was 41 'bidders' and chances are all of them, except me, got a 'direct
email' from the scammers seeing if they would send them the money for the
ficticious vehicle in the auction. Remember, all it takes is ONE person to
send the money not knowing and they lose their asses for thousands of
dollars.
====================================================
How to make a scammer pissed off!!!!
Since I whizzed away several hours yesterday toying with ebay's "live
chat"
which is worthless, figured some of you might like to see how these scams
are popping up really quickly. I mentioned this earlier but it is worth
mentioning again. Someone has figured out how to write script into their
auctions. That is, you click on something you see you might be interested
in, then a real looking ebay screen pops up asking for your user ID and
password. you figure hey, I'm on ebay so put it in. Guess what? you just
gave away your information to scammers, who then quickly turn around and
start these auctions!
I have bid over $100 million in the last several days on some fine iron
including a Pierce Arrow, Javelin and well a BBG AMX today for $9 mil. But
it was the Mopar that intrigued me. So I used Paige's email account. you
will note that all these scammers want you to email them first before
bidding. That is to capture your email address, as once ebay shuts them
down, you will get something like I did on this 69 hemi Charger.
Note I DID "follow the scammers instructions" and email them
directly off
ebay so "I could be pre approved" to bid! This is what I got
back.....AFTER
Ebay shut down the auction:

Hello and sorry for the delay,
The 69' Charger is in perfect working condition. My experienced Dodge
tech
has fully checked out this car and gives it a special high rating has a
CLEAR and CLEAN TITLE a great history and mechanically without any problems
ever safety check and pre-delivery inspection along with a fresh servicing
before I ship or deliver the vehicle. The problem is that in the meanwhile I
had to move with my family in Croatia where I got a new job as a
construction engineer. I brought the car here with me with the intention of
driving it but when I found out about the very high import duties and all
the restrictions regarding registration and emissions tests here I have made
up my mind and decided to sell the vehicle.
The amount you will have to pay for this vehicle is $6,000.I can deliver the
car but that you will cost you a little bit more depending on your location!
Let me know if you are still interested.
Regards,
Sean
=================================
Looks innocent enough, however a $80,000 car for $6000. I may not be the
smartest stck of hammers at Home Depot but something fishy. So I decicded to
email them back again off Paige's email acting interested. I'll let ya'll
know how it comes out.
In the meantime, I think I will go bid on this Balwin Motion Camaro, aw
heck, he only wants $6800 for it anyhows:
http://motors.search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZdevice430
Ha ha ha, I feel like that fellow on
www.ebolamonkeyman.com
who leads those
Nigerian Scammers along for months and makes fools fo them. Sadly, this guy
really thinks I am interested in that hemi Dodge Charger for uh, $6800. As
mentioned before, here is the reply from the scammer ebay auction:
===============================================
Hi again Paige,
The car is currently located in Zagreb (Croatia).
As I said in my first email I brought the car to Croatia with the intention
of driving it here, however I wasn't able to register it since I am supposed
to pay huge fees to make it legal for European streets and also have to
start an individual procedure for the car through the croatian government
and i really can't afford these expenses right now. The car is mint from
front to rear it has been garage kept all the time including at the present
time, adult driven, never been raced or wrecked.
If delivered, you will get the car to the nearest port in your area and then
it will be trucked forward to your place.
Shipping takes maximum 10 to 12 days depending on your location, it's fully
insured against damages and the car gets shipped in a crated container.
Total price of the car including shipping costs and insurance all the way to
your place is $6,800.
Here are a few words on how the deal will be handled: the transaction will
go through eBay Motors where I have a purchase protection account of
$20,000.They will take care of the financial part by holding the funds until
you will get the car and give your acceptance for it.
You will have a 3 days period for inspecting the vehicle. At the end of this
period you will have to notify eBay with the result of your inspection so I
can get my money.
In order to start all the arrangements with eBay I will need buyer's full
name,phone # and shipping address.
I have a few guys interested so I will need a prompt answer from you!
Respectfully,
Sean

Amazing. And for what it is worth, chances are the scammer is leading on
dozens of people like this, even though the ebay auction was shut down,

Hello there,
Thank you for your interest in my 1968 AMC AMX.
I want you to know that I closed my auction earlier because someone has
offeredme the buy it now price,
but didn't have all the money available and I cannot accept financing
because time is a real issue for me.
The price I want to obtain for it is $19,900 US .The car is like new,
completely working, perfect running condition,
with no hidden damages or accidents,it has always been garage kept, low
miles, 1968 model.
INTERNATIONAL and TRANSFERABLE warranty.
The car is located in Oklahoma , US, at my house in my garage .At the
moment I am in Germany in Berlin,
I have two hotels here and must work here this year and there is nobody at
my house in US, because I recently divorced of my wife.
If you are really interested and want to buy my car , I can come and meet
with you in US so we can make the deal.
The only problem I have is that I need to be sure you want to buy the
car,so I will not come for nothing from Deutchland to United States .
This is a large purchase and I would like to use a third party for this
transaction as I want a smooth and safe transaction. We will use eBay as
third party.
I must have a assurance that you really want to buy the car ,so you will
have to make a down payment of $4,000 to eBay .
After eBay will contact me and confirm that you transfered the funds to
them,i will come to US and meet with you at my home address.
Or the seccond option is that i can ship the car directly to your address,
and i can give you a 15 days inspection period,
in this time you must decide if you will agree to keep it so eBay can
transfer the funds to me.
If for some reason you do not like the car and dont want to buy it , you
can always take your money back from eBay 100% service ,
there is no problem they can refound you.
If you agree with these terms, please send me your ull name, home and
shipping address, ebay ID so I can register the transaction with ebay asap.
