The Ben Carco Giveaway Raffle AMC AMX
This was a ONE OF ONE 1968 AMX Giveaway car from Ben Carco AMC in southern California that appeared on ebay in 2012. I saved the photos and auction information solely because you had a lot of giveaway American Motors cars back in the day, from raffle cars to well known giveaway cars like Remington razors. The 00 paint code indicates the odd off yellow color, not available for regular production colors in 1967, 68 or 1969. This car waa raffled off, and somewhere here in my train wreck of a AMX website I might even have the announcement with winner in front of dealership. The car was also featured later in the defunct AMCWC newsletters. It is ONE of ONE made. The car was nicely optioned and appears to have went from California to Colorado for a few years then back to California. I hope the new owners restore it to it's former glory. If the seller had known the history of this particular vehicle it would have sold for much, much more that $6500 in 2012..

Up for bid is a very rare
1968 AMC AMX (American Motors Experiment) 390 GO PAC car. It has 90,000 original miles and
the original and complete A/C. 2,112 were made in 1968 and only 14% of them had the A/C.
It has an automatic transmission, original Posi rear end and is a 2 seater. I am
selling it for the second owner of the vehicle. It has had one repaint in 1975. Still has
the original inflatable spare tire in the trunk and the original owners manual! I have
some of the receipts and maintenance notes for repairs/service of the vehicle. It starts,
runs and drives. The brakes and carburetor need some attention, as it has been in storage
the last 8 years.This is a BONE STOCK, unmolested very rare AMX. There is a lot of info on
the internet. These cars set records in 1968 that are still held today.
This is a very easy
restoration. It has minor surface rust, but NO rust through. The interior is all original,
the springs and everything are there, it needs new carpet and to reupholster the seats. It
has a low production number on this first year AMX. The plaque is still on the dash. I
have pages of info on this vehicle. I could fax them to you if you were interested, or
Google.
This is an
original California car that spent a few years in Colorado before coming back to
California. It is registered in Colorado, but the original black and yellow California
license plates are in the trunk. If you are interested and would like to take a look
