It is not the easiest feat attempting to restore a obsolete auto from a orphan car company. AMC has a huge parts crisis. On the other side of the coin, there have been more wonderful reproduction items appear in the AMC market in the last 5 years than the past 15 years combined. Do not let the parts influence your decision to buy AMC. Many drive train parts are readily available over counter as they share heritage with Jeep. There are also dozens of great local and area chapters of AMC enthusiasts listed in the "links" section to help you find things in your own area. Furthermore, below is a huge American Motors and Ramblers Vendors list I have been compiling, since the early 1990s. There are many vendors listed to help you find the parts for your restoration no matter what year, and many of us offer a FREE Parts Locator Service.
Feel free to
also put your extra parts for sale, or trade, or if looking for a item, post it
in the growing
AMC Classifieds
section.
If you have old AMC cars and parts laying around, recycle them back into the hobby and sell them! If you are interested in possibly reproducing a AMC part that is needed by the hobby, please contact me! I might be able to tell you whether it would fly, or sink. I buy single parts and entire collections of AMC parts and literature... I also trade a lot!
Please be courteous when calling anyone below. Please enclose a Self Address Stamped Envelope when writing, it is a common courtesy!! Please be patient when emailing; many vendors get backed up; myself included, and it sometimes takes me 5-20 days, depending on volume of emails.
If it is really important, then call on the phone as you have the vendor's undivided attention!
It is *Highly Suggested* to make yourself a "shopping list" or "wish list" of items you may need for your vehicle(s), in order of "priority" before emailing or writing or calling!
There is a reason you do not see some assholes, losers, brokers, crooks on this list. There are assholes in any hobby, whether toys, trains, comic books, and it is best to avoid them. Your best bet is simply to call around to vendors listed here if you have concerns about someone NOT listed here. 90% of the listings below I have dealt with personally in 24+ years in the AMC Hobby. If you personally ever have trouble with anyone listed on my Vendors List, inform me and I will try to resolve the problem to your satisfaction.
If
you are passing thru the Houston area, please note my warehouse has been closed
to the public since 1986 when some fool stepped on 70 AMX dash overlay and had
to buy it.
