AMC Ram Air and Cowl Induction Flapper Door.

If you own a American Motors 1969 Hurst SC/Rambler; a 1970 Rebel Machine, or a 1971 SC/360 Hornet or a 1971 thru 1973 AMX or Javelin this new flapper door may just be what you need. Since I currently own three of the four mentioned above vehicles, I had this part reproduced as the one on my Rebel convertible "Machine" was missing, lost in the 1980s by the restoration shop. Many people thru the years I understand had removed the only 'removable' part of the Ram Air/Cowl Induction AMC system so maximum air would be shoved down the carb. Or they simply disliked the 'clack' noise.

While all SC/Ramblers, and Rebel Machines can with factory Ram Air, and this door, not all SC/360 Hornets did (see SC/360 Registry ) nor did most 71-73 AMXs. Functional Ram Air was not a option for 1974 and no 74 AMXs were produced with functional hoods. However, the "flapper assembly" as it is known for the 1971-73 AMX and Javelin was slightly different as the door was housed in the breather lid, as
shown in the illustrations here with a removed SC/360 setup, and a upper lid of a 71-73 AMX
.

So if you are looking to replace a missing door, or a rusty one, here is your chance. This new reproduction item comes with not only the triangular brace, but also the rod (71-73 AMXs did not require a rod) and also the mounting "C" clips.
